The History of Conforto

The vision for Conforto began in 2018 when, after working with survivors of sexual violence, it started to become clear there was much more that could be done to help and support.

Follow the story...

Our Founder - Sarah - shared the vision with a few others and for a number of years worked as an ISVA offering support to survivors of SV, we set up the Comfort Gift initiative and the Happy Post project, we have trained up two ISVAs using donations we raised from our followers and The Survivors Trust diploma, and we have created a lovely instagram page which shares advice and signposts to other organisations. The name Conforto is Latin and it means ’to comfort’. When broken down, ‘con’ means to comfort and soothe, and ‘forth’ is derived from the word ‘fortress’ which means to strengthen and fortify. The definition of this word has become the mantra for Conforto and has shaped our vision and values. We believe whoever uses any part of our service will be comforted, soothed, strengthened and fortified towards wholeness and healing.

Keep following to see what comes next as we look to expand and grow this year.

COMFORT - SOOTHE - FORTIFY - STRENGTHEN
